My girls and I decided to have a “the weather can’t make up its mind what it is going to do in Nova Scotia” kind of afternoon. As I watched them run from the swimming pool to the house in a crazy down pour with thunder and lightning, I decided that we should hang out in the kitchen and make some playdough. They had a different idea, they wanted Slime.
So we set out to make Slime, we gathered up as much of the ingredients as we had and could only make half of the recipe that we found. We only had a small amount of glue, glue seems to be a hard item to keep around.
To create our slime we did this:
- Mix together 2 cups of white glue and 1 ½ cups of warm water, stir well.
- In a different bowl, mix together 2 ½ teaspoons of Borax and 1 cup of warm water. Mix until the borax is dissolved
- Add the Borax solution to the glue solution and stir. You will have to use your hands after a few minutes to really get it mixed together.
- That’s it. Super Simple! Remember that this should be a supervised activity when including smaller children, Borax is harmful!
The girls played with this crazy slime for a good hour, when they decided that Daddy needed to be a part of it. So off we went to Wal-Mart to pick up more glue, so that when Daddy got home from work we could introduce him to the world of Slime.
When we made our Slime the second time around with Daddy, we used 1 cup of glitter glue and 1 cup of white glue. To give it a little something extra, it made it so pretty because you need pretty slime. Being the man the Daddy is, it said “We should make it into that fart sounding stuff you buy from the dollarstore” WHAT A MAN!!! A mature man, I suppose. The girls were all over this idea and off to the recycling they went to find containers, they returned with plastic applesauce jars, pudding cups, and yogurt containers. Then the fun really began. They spent over an hour and a half with their Daddy making “farting” noises with this stuff. REALLY!?!
