Garden, Garden, Garden

The weather is finally getting warmer (thank goodness) and with that begins gardening season. Hooray! Hooray!

I love to garden, I love growing flowers and vegetables. There is nothing better than a fresh picked cucumber from the garden. YUM, now I kind of would like to eat a cucumber sandwich.

When my husband and I first bought our house 6 years ago that was one thing that we were very excited about, other than owning our own home, we were excited about the possibility of a large garden. Every year since we have tried to get a nice garden, we have put a lot of work into it with little reward. Last year we planted the garden TWICE because there are pheasants in our back yard and they ate ALL the seeds. SO we planted again and again they ate all the seeds. We ended up with nothing that year. The year prior to that our garden flooded, flooded, flooded. We did manage to get peas, beans, and cucumber that year, which was great. I can’t remember the years before but I know that our tomatoes almost never grow, the watermelons never grow, and everything else we plant is negotiable.

This year I am aiming for a large garden, with the hope that everything will grow. I am moving the location of my garden so that those oversized pheasants can’t eat the seeds, you know those creatures are a nuisance. I have started most of the seeds inside; I still have a couple more to start but I ran out of starter cells.

Here is my plan. My garden is going to consist of:

  • Tomatoes
  • Peas
  • Green/Yellow beans
  • Lettuce
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Corn
  • Green/Red Peppers
  • Cucumber
  • Watermelon
  • Pumpkins

Wow. That is a lot. Oh well. Here we grow again. Wish me Luck!!
