Easter Bark

I was asked to create a dessert for a fundraising event. I do this dessert event each year and usually make cakes, I have made a compost cake, a peanut butter cheesecake, and various other cakes. This year I thought that I would mix it up a little bit, so I made Easter Bark.  A bit different, I wasn’t sure how well it would go over, it was kind of risking putting my Easter bark up next to 10 other cakes. But what the hey, why not!? On a risk scale, the risk was small, so I took the small risk.

To make the Easter bark, here is what I did.

  • 90 Chocolate melting wafers (choose the colors you want)
  • Hersheys Eggies
  • Small Chocolate bunnies
  • Easter color smarties

Cut up and chop all the candies that you will be putting into the bark. I used a food chopper to chop the eggies and smarties, then used a knife to cut up the chocolate bunnies.

Next lay out parchment paper on a cookie sheet to place the chocolate once it melted and to make the bark. Then use a small saucepan and a wooden spoon to melt the chocolate wafers, one color at a time. I used medium heat and stirred constantly until they were completely melted. It is so, so easy to burn the chocolate.  Once it is melted place it onto the parchment paper, do this until each color is melted. Once all the colors are melted and on the parchment paper, use the wooden spoon and mix and swirl the colors together to make designs.

The next part is to place the candies onto the bark. You can put as many or as few as you want. I loaded mine up until there wasn’t much space left to put anything. Let it sit until it is hardened, mine took about 4 hours. Once it is hardened you can cut it up and enjoy!
