Brown Bread

My husband loves Brown bread. He will sit down and eat a piece of brown bread with a slice of cheddar cheese for his lunch. (Gross!) I am not a lover of brown bread but maybe, like my husband, you are.

For this recipe I usually make it in the bread maker, however it could be made by hand or with a kitchen aid mixer. I don’t know where this recipe originally came from; I got it from my Mother-in-law, she calls it Blomidon bread.

1 ¼ cup water

½ cup water

1 tbsp margarine

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp milk powder

¼ cup cornmeal

½ cup oatmeal

3 cups white flour

2 tsp yeast

Put all the ingredients in your bread maker, choose your loaf settings, and start it up. What an easy way to make bread!

I only use the bread maker to make the dough. I put all the ingredients into the bread maker and set it to the dough setting. Once the dough is done, I preheat my oven to 375 degrees, and separate the dough into two loaf pans. I bake for about 20 minutes or until done.
